Archeology of Light

€1,995.00

Earthy-Atmospheric Series · 2025

100 H × 100 W × 4 D cm | Mixed media on canvas | Original artwork · Stretched · Unframed

Archeology of Light approaches luminosity through the relationship between a pale field and warmer, denser passages. Light is suggested by what remains open between the marks rather than by a depicted source.

Fine vertical traces in ochre and brown pass through the lighter ground and gather towards the lower part of the composition. Here, warmer colour meets darker interruptions, setting the openness above against a more concentrated visual weight below.

From across a room, the painting reads as an airy field held by its lower band. At closer range, variations between the traces become more visible, allowing the pale intervals to become as important as the marks themselves.

FOR ARCHITECTS & INTERIOR DESIGNERS:

At 100 × 100 cm, Archeology of Light offers a balanced square format with a restrained but distinct spatial presence. Its combination of pale openness and denser lower passages makes it suitable for residential, hospitality, wellness and professional interiors where the work can operate through light, material variation and tonal contrast without dominating the architecture.

As a stretched, unframed canvas, the work can be installed as presented or framed according to the requirements of the project. Sonia Jeronimo Studio can provide technical information regarding placement, framing, lighting, delivery and installation.

PHOTOGRAPHY & COLOUR ACCURACY:

The artwork contains a restrained range of pale neutral tones, ochre, brown and darker earthy passages. These relationships shift according to the quality, temperature and direction of the light.

Under diffused natural daylight, the pale field and the separation between individual vertical traces become more visible. Under warm artificial light, the ochre and brown passages gain greater density and the lower part of the composition can appear more concentrated. Directional or lateral light reveals subtle changes in texture, layering and surface reflectivity.

Digital photography cannot reproduce the full tonal depth and material variation of the original work. Screen calibration, white balance, ambient light and image compression may alter the relationship between pale and warmer passages. Online and printed images are therefore representative only; the original artwork remains the definitive reference for colour, surface, scale and tonal depth.
