Series: “Raw”
“RAW” marks the very beginning of my artistic voice — a moment of instinct rather than intention, where I first allowed color, emotion, and uncertainty to meet on the surface without restraint. Created during a period of profound transition, these works capture the unfiltered impulse to express before I understood technique, language, or direction. They hold the truth of a starting point: unfinished, unguarded, necessary.
Inspired by Helen Frankenthaler’s openness — her willingness to let paint breathe, flow, stain, and become — the series reflects my first attempt to trust movement over control. Nothing in “RAW” is corrected or polished. It is painting as confession, as release, as discovery. A place where the canvas is not commanded but encountered.
The surfaces carry a primal immediacy: washes of color that bleed into each other, gestures that dissolve as quickly as they appear, and textures that reveal a self still searching for form. These works are not about mastery; they are about honesty. They document the moment when art stopped being an idea and became a necessity — the moment I realized that creation was the only language capable of holding what I could no longer articulate in any other way.
“RAW” is the seed of everything that followed — the first breath of a journey that would later evolve into depth, luminosity, and introspection. It is my origin story, my threshold, my unfiltered truth.
The place where I began, before I knew I was becoming.
